Salam Fayyad registers his list for legislative elections

Former Prime Minister Salam Fayyad submitted on Wednesday an electoral list to run for the Legislative Council elections.

The list was registered today at the headquarters of the Elections Commission in Al-Bireh, in the central West Bank, and at the Commission’s headquarters in Gaza City.

Salam Fayyad, Makram Abbas, Jaber Weshah, Anwar Zakaria, Yasser Al-Shentaf, and Muti` Zughayer are among the candidates on the list.

The Central Elections Commission announced that 28 electoral lists submitted applications to run for the 2021 Legislative Council elections from the start of the candidacy process until Wednesday noon.

It is scheduled that the Central Elections Commission would close the door to candidacy for the Legislative Council elections at the end of today, Wednesday.

The commission clarified in a press release that its staff will continue to work on receiving candidacy applications until midnight on Wednesday, at the general headquarters in Al-Bireh city and the regional headquarters in Gaza City, stressing that it will not receive any applications after this date.

The coordination had been made with the Monetary Authority and the Bank of Palestine to keep the two branches, in Al-Bireh and Gaza City open until 5 pm today, to enable the lists to deposit candidacy fees.

The Election Commission added that it will finish studying, deciding, and announcing the applications to the public, including the names of the lists and candidates, on the sixth of next April, so that citizens can view them and submit objections and appeals to any of the lists and candidates.

The Election Commission had set the nomination period for the legislative elections from 20 to 31 March.
