PPS: Palestinian prisoner contracts COVID-19 in Ofer prison

Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said that Palestinian prisoner Ramzi Abu Ajamiya, held in the Israeli prison of Ofer, southwest of Ramallah city, has contracted COVID-19.

PPS said in a statement that Abu Ajamiya was moved to a section of the prison where prisoners with COVID-19 are isolated, shortly after he tested positive for the virus.

Abu Ajamiya was detained by the Israeli occupation army from his home in Dheisha refugee camp near Bethlehem on March 29, ten days after he was shot and injured in the leg by the occupation forces. He is expected to appear for trial on the 12th of this month.

The latest case brings up the number of Palestinian detainees who have contracted the virus so far in the Israeli prisons to 368.
