The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Committee reported on Wednesday that the occupation prisons administration has provided expired medicine to the sick prisoner, Muhammad Barash, who is in Ashkelon prison.
The prisoner, Barash, explained to the Committee’s lawyer after visiting him that he discovered about two weeks ago that the detainee administration had been providing him with cholesterol medicine that had expired since last January.
The committee pointed out in its report that providing the prisoner Barash an expired drug for months, could affect him and deteriorate his health condition, especially since he suffers from many chronic diseases, and he needs special care for his situation, as he suffers from Amputation in his left foot, lack of vision, rapid heart rate, as well as severe ear ulcers that make him lose the ability to hear.
The prisoner urgently needs an operation on his ears and the placement of new headphones and there is a defect in the prosthetic limb that places him in the place of his amputated leg and he needs an examination by a specialist, but the Ashkelon administration is procrastinating in transferring him to perform the operation in his ears, and to conduct an examination of the prosthetic limb, and does not respond to his demands.
It should be noted that the prisoner Barash, 44, a resident of Al-Amari camp, southwest of Ramallah, has been detained since 2003 and has been sentenced to life imprisonment three times.
