Hamas condemned the assassination of the political activist Nezar Banat. 

It said in a statement that this orchestrated crime reflects the intentions of the Palestinian Authority against the Palestinians and politicians. 

It said that Hamas sent its condolences to his family and all the Palestinians for the assassination of Nezar and held Mahmoud Abbas and his government accountable for the consequences of this crime which is included in the series of crimes and violations of the Authority against the Palestinians.

"Nezar's blood will remain a curse chasing the criminals and killers who bought themselves and their consciousnesses to the enemies," the statement said. 

Hamas called on the Palestinians and all factions to take national decisions towards those involved in this crime, protect the Palestinians from the Palestinian Authority's criminality and oppression, and change the risky reality imposed by the Authority of the security coordination in the West Bank. 

Hamas called on the Palestinians to participate in the widest national and popular funeral of Nezar Banat and called on the civil, popular, and human right institutes.
