Gaza Faces Disregard for Human Life

The United Nations has issued a stark warning that everything in Gaza is running out—supplies, time, and life. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has condemned Israel for violating international law through forced evacuations.

UN humanitarian office spokesperson Jens Laerke described Israeli actions as brutal crimes, reflecting a blatant disregard for human dignity. Daily eviction orders are shrinking the space for families to survive.

Michael Fakhri, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, stated that Israel is using food as a weapon, resulting in the deaths of thousands of children. He called for accountability and sanctions against Israel for its inhumane policies.

The UN High Commissioner urged Israel to cease cutting off humanitarian aid and halt forced displacements. Since March 18, Israel has issued ten mandatory evacuation orders across Gaza, which the UN has classified as serious violations of international humanitarian law.

More than half of the northern Gaza population is affected, with no guarantees of safety for those displaced from the south. Tens of thousands are reportedly trapped in Khan Younis and Rafah, facing a dire choice between further displacement or risking their lives.

Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal warned that the fate of 50,000 citizens in Rafah remains uncertain amid ongoing Israeli attacks.

In response, Hamas has called for urgent international action to pressure for an end to the siege and the violence affecting over two million people in Gaza.
