The horrors unfolding in Gaza reveal more than a military campaign, they expose a systematic assault on Palestinian identity itself. From the very beginning of Israel’s offensive in October 2023, it was clear that the destruction went far beyond targeting armed factions. Entire neighbourhoods have been erased, families wiped out, and cultural landmarks reduced to rubble. This is not just war, it is an attempt to dismantle the very essence of Palestinian life.
Israel has worked relentlessly to control the narrative, banning foreign journalists, restricting aid groups, and killing Palestinian reporters. The world is left with sanitised Israeli military footage, carefully edited to justify the indiscriminate bombing. Yet independent investigations have repeatedly exposed these claims as lies, fabricated missile sites, fake command centres, and manipulated evidence presented even to the International Court of Justice.
Western media, particularly American outlets, have played a dangerous role, amplifying Israeli propaganda while ignoring Palestinian voices. False claims, like Biden’s debunked allegation of “beheaded babies,” were spread without scrutiny, while Israel’s fabricated image as a transparent democracy persists. Meanwhile, Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe is met with indifference, despite overwhelming evidence of mass displacement, starvation, and targeted humiliation.
Israeli soldiers film themselves mocking displaced Palestinians, rifling through their belongings, and corralling starving civilians behind fences under the guise of aid distribution. These are not the actions of a state defending itself, nthey are the tactics of an occupation determined to crush not just resistance, but existence itself.
The world must ask: if this is not enough to force a reckoning, what will be? The truth is clear, this is not a war on Hamas, but on Palestine’s past, present, and future. And the silence of those who could stop it only deepens the crime.
