Rafah Massacre: Over 35 Killed as Israeli Forces Open Fire on Civilians at Aid Point

In yet another horrifying episode of violence in Gaza, over 35 Palestinians were killed and dozens more wounded on Sunday morning when Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of starving civilians waiting for aid near a distribution point in Rafah. The site, ironically established by the occupation forces themselves, became the scene of a massacre marked by scenes of chaos, blood, and grief.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, at least 35 bodies have been recovered and brought to hospitals in southern Gaza, with many more critically injured, some declared clinically dead on arrival. The number of victims is likely higher, as countless bodies remain near the scene, unreachable due to the ongoing threat of fire. Eyewitnesses reported Israeli quadcopters and military vehicles indiscriminately shooting directly into the crowd, striking heads and chests.

Hospitals are once again overwhelmed. With emergency rooms flooded and surgical supplies nearly exhausted, medical teams are working under impossible conditions. Blood supplies are running dangerously low due to widespread malnutrition and anaemia, and there are not enough ambulances to cope with the scale of the carnage. Director of Ambulance Services in northern Gaza, Fares Afaneh, warned that crews are being prevented from reaching the wounded and that ambulances themselves are being deliberately targeted.

The Palestinian Medical Relief Society condemned the attack as a deliberate massacre, stating that Israeli forces intentionally fired on unarmed, hungry civilians, many of whom were women and children. The Civil Defense confirmed that victims span all age groups, with some bodies so badly disfigured they remain unidentified.

The horror did not stop in Rafah. Elsewhere in central Gaza, near a U.S.-run aid distribution point along the Netzarim corridor, Israeli gunfire claimed the life of yet another Palestinian and injured several more. These scenes, though shocking, have become grimly routine in a war that has stripped Gaza of its humanity in the eyes of the world.

As Palestinians bleed beside aid trucks and under drone fire, global silence only deepens the wound.
