Gaza’s Ministry of Health has warned that Israel’s ongoing forced evacuations are systematically dismantling what remains of the Strip’s fragile healthcare system, particularly in the southern region.
In a statement on Tuesday, officials described the Israeli evacuation orders around Khan Younis as a deliberate act that could render the Nasser Medical Complex, the last major hospital in southern Gaza, completely inoperable. The closure of this vital facility would endanger the lives of hundreds of patients who rely on it for critical care.
The hospital, already overwhelmed, serves as the sole provider of specialised medical services in the south. Officials fear that the evacuation will lead to the death of patients in intensive care units, operating theatres, and emergency rooms, as well as newborns in incubators who cannot be moved safely or treated elsewhere.
This latest escalation highlights what Palestinian officials and health workers have long described as a targeted effort to collapse Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure, leaving civilians to suffer without access to life-saving treatment amid a deepening humanitarian catastrophe.
