Palestinian political factions have issued a stark warning against attempts to sideline the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), condemning what they describe as “complicity” in a U.S.-Israeli scheme to control aid distribution in Gaza. The Follow-up Committee of the National and Islamic Forces accused Israel of turning aid centres into execution grounds, where starving civilians are gunned down as they search for food.
In a powerful statement, the committee denounced the deaths of over 120 Palestinians near distribution points, saying that the so-called aid zones, established under U.S. coordination, have become death traps under a brutal siege. “These are not centres of relief; they are zones of calculated murder,” the statement read.
The factions called on the international community to uphold its obligations under international law and to immediately place aid operations under full UN supervision, particularly that of UNRWA. They stressed that only neutral, legitimate agencies can guarantee ethical and dignified humanitarian access.
The statement also served as a direct warning to Palestinians not to cooperate with any organisation working to undermine UNRWA. It called for full vigilance against the GHC, a U.S.-backed entity accused of facilitating the takeover of aid systems, and announced that security units aligned with the resistance have been authorised to confront any person or group collaborating with hostile actors.
As hunger deepens and Israeli fire continues to claim lives at food lines, Palestinian leaders insist that replacing UNRWA is not a neutral act, it is a step towards dismantling a people’s last lifeline.
