The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has announced it has lost all contact with its staff in Gaza amid a total communications blackout across the territory. Israeli forces have severed internet and telephone services for the third consecutive day, cutting Gaza off from the outside world.
Efforts to restore vital telecommunications have been obstructed by continued Israeli denial of access to maintenance crews, who have been prevented from repairing damaged infrastructure. The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed that all areas of Gaza, from north to south, are now completely isolated after the destruction of the main fibre-optic line.
This communications blackout further deepens Gaza’s isolation, hindering humanitarian operations and leaving residents without critical means to seek help or stay informed.
