Israel Cuts Off Gaza's Communications Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Government Media Office in Gaza has accused Israel of deliberately severing communications and internet access in the Gaza Strip for the tenth time since the start of its military offensive, calling it a calculated move to conceal atrocities and worsen the humanitarian crisis.

In a statement on Monday, the office said the prolonged blackout ,part of what it describes as a 20-month genocidal campaign, disrupts emergency services, leaves casualties unattended, and isolates Palestinians from the outside world. The shutdown, it stressed, is not a technical failure but a systematic tactic to obscure Israel’s actions in devastated areas and prevent journalists from documenting the reality on the ground.

The office condemned the blockade as a violation of international law, accusing Israel of using technology as a weapon against civilians. It also criticised the US and the global community for their inaction, urging the UN and International Telecommunication Union to intervene and ensure Gaza’s access to stable communications.

With over 2.4 million people trapped under bombardment, the media office warned that each communications blackout risks more lives, leaving victims unable to call for help and first responders in the dark.
