Mahmoud Abbas appreciates Indonesia's position of rejecting normalization

Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, had a telephone communication with Joko Widodo, Indonesia's president today.

The Palestinian president thanked Widodo for the supportive position of his country towards the Palestinian rights, expressing his appreciation for his country's dismissive position against normalization with Israel and its concerns to achieve peace.

Abbas appreciated Indonesia's supportive position towards the Palestinian cause in the international forums, through its membership in the UN Security Council.

He briefed him on the latest development of the Palestinian cause and the efforts made to protect the Palestinians' rights. In response, the Indonesian president confirmed his country's attachment to support Palestine and Palestinians.

"Despite the rapid changes in the middle east, Indonesia will not take any steps towards normalizing with Israel, until lasting and comprehensive peace takes place between Palestinians and Israelis," said Widodo.

He also mentioned that Indonesia will keep supporting peace and playing a bigger role in this field.

Abbas finally thanked him for his honorable positions towards the Palestinian cause and the Palestinians' legal rights.
