Another Child Lost to Hunger as Gaza Fades from the World’s Conscience

In Gaza City this morning, a 35-day-old infant, Jawad Al-Anqar, died of hunger, another tiny life claimed by a man-made famine that shows no sign of ending. His death is the second such tragedy in just 24 hours, underscoring the worsening humanitarian collapse imposed on the besieged enclave.

Jawad’s fragile body could not withstand the malnutrition that grips thousands of children across the Strip. With hospitals reduced to shells and shelves bare of medicine or formula, doctors say they are helpless. The director of Al-Shifa Hospital, Dr Mohamed Abu Selmiya, described the situation as beyond catastrophic. Over 17,000 children, he says, are now suffering from severe malnutrition, while his staff treat hundreds daily for hunger-related complications, fainting, cognitive loss, and organ failure.

More than 70 children have now died from starvation since the war began, according to Gaza health officials. The total death toll from hunger and medical deprivation has reached at least 620. Yet international silence persists.

Israel’s blockade remains airtight, with crossings closed since March. No food, no medicine. And no accountability. As UN reports confirm the Strip has descended into famine, the world continues to watch from a distance, while Gaza starves, unseen.
