Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Wednesday morning through the Moroccan Gate, escorted by heavily armed occupation forces, according to the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem.

The settlers roamed the courtyards and performed Talmudic rituals, in what Palestinians see as repeated provocations and an attempt to change the religious and historical character of the site. These incursions continue to violate the long-standing status quo governing the compound.

Israeli police imposed severe restrictions on Palestinian worshippers, confiscating ID cards and limiting their access to the mosque, especially during early morning hours.

Local religious and community leaders in Jerusalem have once again urged Palestinians to maintain their presence at Al-Aqsa, warning against efforts to Judaise the site and erase its Islamic heritage.

These settler-led incursions, protected by state forces, have become a symbol of Israeli domination over occupied East Jerusalem, fuelling anger across the Palestinian territories.
