Before dawn broke on Tuesday, Israeli forces shelled tents sheltering displaced families in the Beach Camp, west of Gaza City, killing 14 Palestinians, including women and children, as they slept. Dozens more were injured in the brutal attack, one of many targeting civilians in an already devastated enclave.
The camp, home to thousands who had fled earlier bombardments, offered no safety. With no access to clean water, food, or medicine, the residents had only thin fabric to shield them from the bombs. Survivors were rushed to Al-Shifa Hospital, a facility barely functioning amid fuel and supply shortages, its medical teams stretched beyond capacity.
This latest massacre is part of a relentless military campaign across the Strip, where shelters, aid queues, and family homes have become daily targets. Rights groups have warned that the bombing of tents housing displaced civilians amounts to a war crime, a clear breach of international humanitarian law.
Gaza’s health authorities report over 59,000 Palestinians killed since the beginning of the war, the vast majority women and children. As civil services collapse and aid is blocked, the world watches a humanitarian catastrophe unfold in real time, where even fleeing offers no escape, and tents become graves.
