American physician Mark Browner, recently back from Gaza, has described the situation in the besieged enclave as “large-scale genocide,” marked by mass hunger and a collapse of basic human health. He recounted how starvation has left residents with failing body functions, stomach tumours, and ulcers, warning that only an immediate, unconditional ceasefire can halt the catastrophe.
Browner stressed that Gaza needs a continuous flow of humanitarian aid, not scattered airdrops, which he condemned as dangerous and inadequate. Faulty airdrops have already killed 23 people and injured 124 since the war began, with most falling into occupied zones or evacuated areas, where desperate civilians are exposed to gunfire while trying to retrieve them.
Hospitals are now overwhelmed with patients of all ages whose bodies are skeletal from hunger, many collapsing from exhaustion and malnutrition. In just the past 24 hours, the Palestinian Ministry of Health recorded 11 starvation-related deaths, underscoring the deadly reality of a blockade that turns food into a weapon and survival into a gamble.
