French authorities have halted the renewal of work visas for Israeli airline El Al security staff stationed in Paris, leaving the so-called “Eitan” crew without legal status. Several employees have already returned to Israel after being unable to secure new permits.
The decision, reported by Hebrew media, comes amid rising tensions between Paris and Tel Aviv over the ongoing war in Gaza. While the Israeli Foreign Ministry seeks to resolve the issue through diplomatic channels, the move underscores a growing rift in bilateral relations.
Israeli officials expressed concern at the development, with the U.S. ambassador to Israel publicly criticising France. Yet, the stance in Paris signals a shift, showing that Israel’s actions are increasingly under scrutiny in European capitals.
