2330 Palestinian Detainees since Start of 2020

Human rights organizations specializing in detainees' affairs reported that the Israeli occupation forces have detained 2330 Palestinians from the beginning of 2020 until 30 June.

The human rights organizations (the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners Club, Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, and the Wadi Hilwa Information Center - Silwan) stated in a semi-annual report received by Safa News Agency on Monday that among the detainees were (304) children and (70) women. The number of administrative detention orders has reached (565).

They have pointed out that the number of Palestinian detained in the occupation jails until June 30, 2020, is about 4,700, of whom (41) female, while the number of child detainees and minors is the about (160), and the number of administrative detainees is around (365).

During June 2020, the occupation authorities detained approximately (469) Palestinians, among them: (211) from Jerusalem, (45) from Ramallah and Al-Bireh, (33) from Hebron, (36) from Jenin, and (43) from Bethlehem.

According to the report, the occupation forces detained (32) from Nablus, (27) from Tulkarem, and (18) from Qalqilya, (11) from Tubas, (4) from Salfit, (8) from Jericho, and (1) from Gaza.

The number of administrative detention orders issued during June 2020 reached (98) orders.

The highest proportion of detention in 2020 was in January (about 496 detentions), and the lowest proportion was in April (about 197 detentions)

The highest rate of detention among children and minors was in February 2020, with (95) detentions, the lowest in April 2020, and (18) ones, while the highest rate of detention among women was in June, with (28) detentions, and the lowest was in April, with one detention.

The Detainee Organizations have confirmed that the highest rate of detention among the governorates was in Jerusalem and its towns since the start of the year until June, and reached 1057 detentions, including 57 women, among whom two minors, 202 minors, and 5 children.
