Administration of Israeli prisons closed, on Sunday, Ramon prison after the announcement of finding two cases infected with COVID19 among the jailers.
“Closing Ramon prison ensures the risk of the coronavirus’s spread among the Palestinian prisoners. The ongoing announcements of jailers infected with the virus refers to that they are the main source of infecting the prisoners inside the jails,” Palestinian Society Prisoner’s Club stated.
Announcement of CODIV19 cases among the jails followed Amir Ohana’s statements that giving COVID19 vaccine to the prisoners is not a priority. Instead, Israelis will be vaccinated first.
The club warned of the risks resulted from the big numbers of Palestinian prisoners infected with the coronavirus inside Ramon jail, which has about 360 prisoners.
It also mentioned that 140 Palestinian prisoners were infected with coronavirus since March.
