SAFA – American artist Jonathan Allen staged a protest in New York City earlier this month to denounce Israel's genocidal war on the Gaza Strip by covering two advertising screens near the Whitney Museum of American Art with messages criticizing crimes committed against Palestinians.

One message accused Israel of deliberately targeting and killing Palestinian children, while the other held the U.S. Democratic Party responsible for failing to stop the genocide in Gaza.

The protest is part of a series of artistic actions Allen has carried out since 2017 under the title "Boycott," through which he expresses his political and human rights views in support of the Palestinian cause.

The Whitney Museum removed the messages shortly after they appeared, stating that they had been displayed without authorization. In a statement, the museum said it rejects acts of vandalism, as well as any practices involving bias or discrimination.

The protest comes amid a growing wave of artistic and cultural initiatives across the United States and Europe in support of the Palestinian people. It also coincides with increasing calls to boycott institutions viewed as supporting Israel, hold Israel accountable for crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, and end the military and political support it receives from some Western governments.
