Israel transfers COVID-19 infected prisoner to Ramla prison clinic

Palestinian prisoners club reported on Monday evening that the administration of Raymond prison transferred the prisoner, Khaled Ghazan, 59, to the Ramla prison clinic, while his health condition deteriorates due to the complications of his infection with COVID-19.

The club stated in a statement that the prison administration has been delaying the transfer of the prisoner Ghazan to the hospital for days and after demands and pressures from his fellow prisoners, it transferred him to the Ramla prison, which the prisoners called it, the slaughterhouse, as it does not meet the minimum conditions of the necessary health care for sick prisoners.

The prisoner, Ghazan, is one of the prisoners who, recently, contracted Coronavirus in Raymond prison. The prison administration took him to the hospital for hours, then returned him to the prison and he continued to use an oxygen cylinder to breathe.

The club held the Israeli prisons administration fully responsible for the life of the prisoner Ghazan and all the sick prisoners and those infected with Coronavirus and renewed its demand for the competent authorities, headed by the International Red Cross, to take their real and necessary role in light of the escalation of the infections among the ranks of the prisoners and the escalation of their families' anxiety.

The prisoner Ghazan, who is married and a father to 6 children, was released in the exchange deal in 2011 after he spent 16 years in prison and Israel re-arrested him along with dozens of the ex-prisoners in 2014. Besides, Israel retried him to long life imprisonment.
