The acceleration of settlement construction is a risky step

International law expert stated that the acceleration of Israeli settlement construction indicates Israel's underestimating of the UN resolutions.

Hanna Issa said, "The acceleration of the rate of settlement construction is a risky step aiming to impose a painful reality over the Palestinian land, and a part of Israel's series of underestimating the UN resolutions."

"Since the Palestinian lands have been occupied, Israeli authorities have been seeking to establish a settlement entity over those lands," he added.

According to regulation No. 43 of Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907, the authority of the legitimate power having in fact passed into the hands of the occupant, the latter shall take all measures in his power to restore, and ensure, as far as possible, public order and safety, while respecting, unless absolutely prevented, the laws in force in the country. Hence, this goes against enforcing the Israeli law, the jurisdiction of the Israeli courts, and the military administration.

Issa confirmed that that the international law states that each action the occupant does must be temporary, and it cannot do any long-term changes or others changing the current situations.

He also considered the construction and housing activities in the occupied Palestinian lands did not serve the Palestinians' need. Instead, they served Israel socially and economically.
