Jamila Al-Shanti, who became the first woman to be elected to the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said that the presence of women in the political bureau of Hamas is a new addition, as this means that Palestinian women have an identity and power on the Palestinian political scene and their effective participation has made them worthy of being in any position.
Al-Shanti was quoted by the Palestinian Al-Aqsa TV channel as saying that “As a Palestinian women’s movement, we haven’t been officially in the Hamas political bureau before, but we have participated in the organization and decision making during the preceding period.”
Al-Shanti confirmed that "the Palestinian woman is the one who gives the Palestinian people strength and support, and when she is asked in any position she will be influential, and she is an important success factor among the success factors of the Palestinian people."
"Hamas is moving towards the necessity of holding general elections and it will overcome all the obstacles that are placed in front of its conduct," Al-Shanti explained.
Besides, she stressed that the political office of Hamas will directly start work to complete the preparation for the electoral process and reach the general elections and Hamas will spare no effort in serving the Palestinian people who support and embrace the Islamic resistance.
