ICSPR condemns Israel violations against people of Sheikh Jarrah

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) said that it is following with great concern and disapproval the repeated Israeli attacks against residents of the occupied city of Jerusalem, the most recent of which was the demolition of homes, facilities, and properties and the confiscation of the lands of the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

The Commission confirmed in a statement received by Safa on Wednesday, that there is an imminent threat faced by about 30 Palestinian families in the neighborhood to evacuate their homes for the same reasons, in addition to hundreds of residents in the Batn Al-Hawa area in the town of Silwan.

It explained that it looks very seriously at the occupation's decisions to evacuate the homes of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah, and the approval of the Israeli municipality to establish a site that includes a memorial to the Israeli soldiers in the center of the neighborhood.

The commission called on the international community and international institutions to take their responsibilities imposed by international law and the United Nations Charter towards the Israeli crimes and violations against the Palestinians.

Also, it called on the Security Council to break the silence about the Israeli crimes against Jerusalemites and to move from timid reactions to decisions and measures that oblige Israel to stop settler attacks and violations, which are carried out with the protection and support of the Israeli army.

It called on the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Arab and Islamic parliaments to stand up to their responsibilities and intensify their concerns regarding the Palestinian cause and to place Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on the top of their priorities for support in all its forms.
