Jamal al-Tawil: Israel's arrests of Hamas leaders in West Bank are to deter the Palestinian elections

Jamal al-Tawli, a leader of Hamas, stated that the arrests the Israeli occupation authorities laucnh against Hamas leaders in the West Bank are an attempt to deter the implementation of the Palestinian elections.

al-Tawli was released yesterday by the Israeli forces after he spent a couple of hours in the prison.

The Israeli occupation forces launched yesterday a campaign of arrests against Hamas leaders, activists, and ex-prisoners in the West Bank.

"The Israeli intelligence revealed that those arrests are a threat of not getting close to any banned activity," al-Tawli said in a statement.

He added, "Israel seeks to prevent the return of Hamas activities in the West Bank."

"Amid the preparations of the elections, Israel wants to tell the Palestinians that it has the longhand. Israel seeks to let the elections go as planned, and to arrange the Palestinian house as it wants," al-Tawil said.

"The main goal of Israel's arrests of Hamas leaders is to reject the participation of any Palestinian in building the Palestinian nation and its organizations," he emphasized.

He also confirmed that the Palestinian people are aware enough of the risks resulting from dealing with Israel's threats.

Regarding targeting al-Tawil's family, he stated that Israel's arrest of him and his journalist daughter, Bushra, did not come in a security context, but to charge us, silence our voices, and prevent us from serving our society.

"Israel pretends that it cannot see the name of the Palestinian people," al-Tawli said.

He eventually confirmed that Israel's arrogant and brutal procedures committed in Palestine are to hit the stability and security of the Palestinians.
