Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Tuesday that Bahrain appointed Khaled Yousef Al-Jahlami as the first Ambassador in Tel-Aviv.
Al-Jahlami has been working since 2017 as the director of Bahrain's Foreign activities. From 2009 to 2013, he worked as Bahrain's Deputy Ambassador in the United States.
Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, called Gabi Ashkenazi two days ago to inform him of the new appointment and demand the Israeli approval.
A Bahraini delegation will visit Israel soon to discuss the procedures of the Embassy opening.
Bahrain and Israel reached an agreement to normalize their relations last September.
Bahrain is the second country in the Gulf to normalize its relations with Israel after the United Arab Emirates, which declared its normalization of relations with Israel in August 2020.
