The Israeli municipality in Jerusalem will approve on Wednesday the construction of more than two thousand settlement units in the east of the city, through the Local Planning and Building Committee.
The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported that the committee will approve today the construction of 540 settlement units inside the Abu Ghneim settlement neighborhood, and the construction of 2,000 settlement units in the Givat HaMatos neighborhood near Beit Safafa.
The two projects aim to annoy the Beit Safafa neighborhood and prevent the possibility of a division of the Holy City within the framework of any future political solution.
