Netanyahu's efforts to establish new government reaches a deadlock

Israeli sources stated that Benjamin Netanyahu's attempts to constitute a new government reached a deadlock.

Officials in the Likud party said that Netanyahu failed to convince Bezalel Smotrich, head of the Religious Zionism party, to establish a government depending on the seats of the United Arabic list headed by Mansour Abbas as Smotrich refused to join this government.

Likud party is still waiting for Gideon Sa'ar, a member of the Knesset, to join the government with his new party "New Hope" and to convince members of Al-Wasat and the Left political parties to join the alliance.

It is expected that Naftali Bennet, head of the Yamina party, to give a speech today about the efforts made to establish the government at the beginning of his party's meeting in the Knesset.

Bennet will present his party's future vision in light of the efforts derailed to join an alliance headed by Netanyahu.

Bennet believes that he is most deserving to assume the post of president despite the defeat of his party in the elections as he has only 7 seats.
