The spokesperson of Al-Quds Our Destination electoral list, Alaa Hmeidan, stated that the arrest of our candidates aims at affecting Hamas and its performance before and during the elections.
An Israel special unit arrest Najeh Al-Assi, representative of Al-Quds Our Destination list, last night after raiding his home and intimidating his family.
The electoral list's nominees held a press conference today as Hmeidan stated that Israel's arrests and threats are attempts to cancel the elections.
He confirmed that the continuation of arrests and threats aim at keeping the West Bank paralyzed and worried about the conduct of elections as it is an attempt to end the division between the Palestinian parties.
He considered what is going on to expresses Israel's political crisis.
"Two weeks ago, the Israeli occupation arrested Hassan Al-Wardian, a candidate for the Al-Quds Our Destination list. Yesterday, it raided the nominee's home Shaker Amarah and intimidated his family," Hmeidan said.
He called on the European Union and countries like Egypt, Turkey, Russia, and Qatar to intervene and stop Israel's attacks against the Palestinians, protect the democratic way, enable the Palestinians to conduct the elections in time, and force Israel to release the list's nominees.
He also called on the Palestinian people, institutions, and electoral lists to reject Israel's policies aiming at targeting the list's nominees.
He stressed the need to proceed with the democratic process to end the conflicts between the factions.
"We are keen on conducting the elections Jerusalem. We have to work on proving the Jerusalemites' rights to vote." Hmeidan said.
Jamal Al-Tawil called on the countries that guarantee the conduct of elections to step in, and candidates to send letters to Israel to confirm that Jerusalem is for the Palestinians.
He confirmed the Palestinians' ability to promote all possible ways and tools to conduct the elections. It can be conducted in the representatives of friendly states, the European Union, Turkey, and Russia, and in putting ballot boxes in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.
Regarding the delay of the elections, Al-Tawil stressed everyone's insistence on conducting the elections.
"Whoever calls for delaying the elections intends to commit suicide politically as unprecedented huge numbers registered for voting. Who calls for delaying or canceling the elections wants to smash the Palestinians' will.
