The monitoring team of the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria confirmed in a report on the occasion of Palestinian Prisoners' Day that it had documented (1797) Palestinian detainees held in Syrian prisons and (620) victims who died under torture.
The team pointed out that the real number of detainees and torture victims is bigger than what has been documented; however, the Syrian regime conceals the names and information of the detainees, in addition to the fear of victims' families about announcing the death of their children under torture for fear of prosecution by the Syrian regime.
The Palestinian detainees are subjected to all forms of torture in the Syrian security branches and detention centers without the slightest forms of health care and in very difficult humanitarian conditions during which hundreds of detainees have died.
Meanwhile, the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria has renewed its demand for the Syrian regime to release and disclose the Palestinian detainees whose fate is unknown.
It stressed the need to reveal the numbers, names and places of those who died under torture, noting that the families have the right to know the fate of their relatives, whether they are among the victims or the living.
