Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, accompanied by a high-level Hamas delegation, arrived Sunday into the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
His visit to Lebanon is part of a series of official visits that he started at the beginning of this month.
“This visit comes in the context of investing the victory scored by the Palestinian resistance in the “Sword of Al-Quds” battle,” Haniyeh said in a press conference upon his arrival in Beirut.
Haniyeh pointed out that the significance of this visit lies in it being an opportunity to meet senior officials in the country, including the Lebanese president, parliament speaker, and prime minister, in addition to leaders of Palestinian factions and Lebanese resistance movements and parities and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon’s Palestinian refugee camps.
The Hamas chief said that his meetings with the Lebanese officials would address matters of mutual concern, including bilateral relations and the “political developments resulting from the victory scored by the Palestinian people at home and abroad.”
Such meetings will also discuss the ongoing Israeli measures in occupied Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories and highlight the Palestinian constants, Haniyeh added.
Haniyeh reiterated his movement’s commitment to the right of return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland from which they were forced out and rejection of resettlement of Palestinian refugees or granting them an alternative homeland.
