The Prisoners and ex-prisoners Affairs Committee on Monday warned of the serious health condition of prisoner, Ghazanfar Abu Atwan, 28, who is continuing his open hunger strike for the 62nd consecutive day, rejecting his administrative detention.

The committee said in a press statement that the prisoner Abu Atwan suffers from a severe shortage of fluids in his body, especially as he announced his abstinence from drinking water, which would expose the functions of his vital organs to fail.

The prisoner, Abu Atwan, still refuses to receive vitamins and has lost 15 kg of weight, suffers from tachycardia, and is unable to move.

The occupation authorities refuse to release him or allow him to be transferred to a Palestinian hospital, especially after the occupation prosecution issued a decision to suspend his administrative detention, but this decision does not mean that the administrative order will not be renewed again, according to the committee. 

The committee expressed the fear that the medical staff there would resort to force-feeding him, which is a violation of his rights under all international laws because any medical intervention against him is aiming at keeping his situation as it is and increasing his suffering.

The International Committee of the Red Cross and all human rights and humanitarian institutions were called on to visit the prisoner Abu Atwan and to intervene urgently to save his life before it is too late.
