The Israeli civil administration announced a plan aiming to expand the settlement of Yakir and Nofim, built on the lands of Deir Istiya and Qarawat Bani Hassan in western Salfit in the West Bank. 

Sources in Deir Istiya and Qarawat Bani Hassan stated that the the expansion plan included lands of the citizens in Al-Nuwaitef, Al-Majoor, Wadi Khaeel, Al-Saffar, Beir Abo Ammar and Wadat Al-Hamam in Qarawat Bani Hassan. 

It also also included lands in Al-Marah, Al-Sahlat, Abo Rabee, Al-Maslaba, Khellat Nasheet, Hareeqat Abo Zuhair, Kubara, Gharsat Al-Ayn, Al-Baten, AL-Hanaya, Wadi Qana, and Ahl-Mahfour in Deir Istiya. 

The head of Deir Istiya's Municipality stated that the areas the Israeli occupation was planning to confiscate were more than 8500 dunums.
