OIC condemns the storming of al-Aqsa mosque by Israeli settlers

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the storming of al-Aqsa mosque by extremist settlers under the protection of Israeli police and the attack on worshipers.

OIC stressed in a statement that these repeated attacks on the sanctity of the holy sites come as part of Israel’s attempts, the occupying power, to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, which constitutes a violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions and relevant United Nations resolutions.

OIC held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for the consequences of the continuation of these systematic attacks, calling on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities to put an end to these violations.

OIC called on the international community to work to launch a political track in order to achieve peace based on the vision of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with its capital East Jerusalem in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
