Salah’s renewed solitary confinement is a political decision, says Hamas official

Member of Hamas politburo Husam Badran said that the Israeli occupation’s ruling to extend the solitary confinement of Sheikh Raed Salah is a political decision taken by higher security and political authorities in the Israeli occupation.

In a statement, Badran emphasized that the Israeli decision to keep Salah in detention is to pile more pressure on the national figure, for he has been steadfastly defending the Palestinian people in 1948 occupied territories.

Israeli authorities have been holding Salah in detention since August 2017.

“This move is part of a calculated strategy aimed at keeping the Palestinians away from the Palestinian community, the senior Hamas official noted.

Badran also expressed his appreciation to Salah and confidence that he will continue to take the lead regardless of the enormous challenges faced and sacrifices made.

“His name has been linked to Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa,” said Badran.

The Hamas official concluded that the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people inside Palestine and in the diaspora “won’t change the convictions of the owners of the land”.

He also confirmed that the Palestinians will not make any compromises until achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people to independence and return to their hometowns and villages from which they were forced out in 1948 by Zionist gangs.
