Haniyeh phones Sheikh Jarrah’s residents

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has received a phone call from Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah Neighbourhood in Jerusalem.

In the phone call, the Hamas chief was updated on the conditions of the Palestinian residents of the Jerusalemite neighbourhood in light of Israeli attempts to displace them.

The Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah reiterated their “absolute rejection” of any ruling by Israeli courts aimed to expel them from their homes and land.

The families hailed the honourable positions of the Palestinian people and resistance in solidarity with their issue, especially the resistance’s steadfastness during the ‘Sword of Al-Quds’ Battle. They also praised the sacrifices of the martyrs, the wounded, and the condemned enormous Israeli destruction during the battle and saluted Gazans for steadfastness during the battle.

The Hamas chief said to them: “You are not alone. Your people and Ummah are with you. The resistance sides by you as well,” noting that the popular will of the Palestinians forced the Israeli occupation to backtrack on its plan in Jerusalem.

Haniyeh emphasized that the Israeli courts try to legitimatise the organisation of  Israeli rituals at Al-Aqsa Mosque, pointing out that the Israeli sabotage at Bab Al-Asbat cemetery is another attempt to take over the Palestinian property.

The same Israeli courts ruled the displacement of Palestinian families like Al-Kurd, Ghawi, Hanoun, and handed over half of Nabeel Al-Kurd and his mother’s home to a settler, Haniyeh said.

Israeli occupation forces were forced to look for a settlement through the courts due to the steadfastness of the Palestinian residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, Haniyeh continued.

The top Hamas official emphasised that the Palestinian people, along with the Arab and Islamic Ummah, will side with Jerusalem, as they have done in the past.

“You shouldn’t accept Israeli offers [about your stay in your homes] because the Israeli occupation is an illegitimate entity,” Haniyeh said.

The will of the Palestinian people and the resistance will force the Israeli occupation out of the Palestinian land, and Sheikh Jarrah will remain protected by the resistance, Haniyeh concluded.
