Gaza Aid Blockade Deepens Starvation and Homelessness

Gaza’s humanitarian crisis is worsening as Israel continues to restrict the entry of desperately needed aid, leaving families starving and homeless. Amjad Al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, said on Friday that the Strip faces a “dangerous” situation, with famine spreading and international aid trucks blocked at the borders.

Despite hundreds of lorries waiting in Egypt and Jordan, only a fraction are allowed in, carrying limited food supplies that cannot meet the needs of over two million people. Most families survive on one meal a day, often scraps of bread or rice, while fresh produce is scarce and sold at prices far beyond reach. Al-Shawa warned that 300,000 children now suffer acute malnutrition, with nutritional supplements available for barely a tenth of them.

He also highlighted a critical shortage of baby formula and shelter materials, noting that not a single tent has entered Gaza since March, even as tens of thousands of families sleep on the streets. With 90% of the population stripped of income and aid convoys facing looting or desperate crowds, Al-Shawa stressed that only the immediate lifting of restrictions and the safe, large-scale flow of humanitarian assistance can prevent further mass suffering.
