An Israeli soldier reported missing this week was found dead in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, the Israeli military said.

The occupation police states that the soldier "Shaggy Ben David" left his military base in Anata area near Jerusalem on Tuesday afternoon, moving to his home before he was found dead. 

The soldier’s body was found near a military checkpoint close to Jerusalem, the military said in a statement.

Israel’s military and police were investigating the circumstances of his death.
