Israel to build 108 illegal settlements north Jerusalem

The Israeli municipality approved the construction of 108 settlement units north of in the occupied Jerusalem prior to the inauguration of US president-elect Joe Biden.

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation "Kan-11", according to the translation of SAFA, stated that the municipality's local planning and building committee approved yesterday the building of the settler units in "Ramat Shlomo" settlement, near Shuafat camp, north of Jerusalem.

The committee will meet again to approve further construction in the settlement before the inauguration of US president-elect Joe Biden on 20 January.

Meanwhile, Israeli press sources revealed that settlers are seeking to carry out the largest possible number of approval processes for construction in the settlements in concerns that Biden will put pressure on Israel to freeze building.

During the administration of US President Donald Trump, he opened the door for the Israeli government to intensify the settlements' construction in the West Bank and Jerusalem, however, the international community's rejection of settlements in those areas.
