Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit an Israeli settlement in the West Bank city of Ramallah during his travel to Israel in the near future.
Pompeo is expected to visit a winery in the Psagot settlement in the West Bank next week, making him the first secretary of State to visit an Israeli settlement.
His trip to the West Bank follows the Trump administration’s reversal last month to lift restrictions on U.S. investment in science, research, and agricultural projects that take place in Israeli settlements.
The winery was earlier targeted among European Union efforts to label Israeli products from these areas as coming from occupied territory.
It is worth noting that Pompeo started today a trip to the US-allied counties, beginning with France, Turkey, and Georgia. He will then visit Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
