Israel slammed for harming Palestinians' health right during COVID-19

The World Health Organization (WHO) slammed Israel for its violations of Palestinians' health right during the outbreak of COVID-19.

In their speeches, some representatives from dozens of countries condemned Israel for harming the health rights of Palestinians; the Iranian representative also stated that the ongoing occupation has profound implications for the health of Palestinians.

Moreover, the WHO's report criticizes Israel's policies committed against Palestinians, which caused them mental health and psychosocial problems, especially the Israeli practices in Area C in the West Bank, which is under the Israeli military and administrative control, as well as its violence carried out against the Gazan protesters in the Great March of Return.

In a 78 to 14 vote, with 32 abstentions and 56 countries absent, the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution requiring the same debate be held next year and for the head of the WHO to ready another report on Israel's health violations to be submitted next year.

Among the countries that voted in favor of the resolution were France, India, Ireland, and Spain; however, the US, Britain, Australia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Slovenia, and others, voted against the resolution.
