Human Rights Activist Majed Al-Arouri: What Is Happening in Jenin is Very Dangerous

Human rights activist Majed Al-Arouri has condemned the actions of the Palestinian Authority's security forces in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, particularly following the killing of young man Rabhi Shalabi and the continued pursuit of Palestinian freedom fighters. Al-Arouri described these actions as extreme, flagrant, and highly dangerous.

“What is happening in Jenin goes beyond what is being reported by the media or acknowledged by some official bodies, and it demands an immediate investigation,” Al-Arouri stated. He stressed the need for an independent inquiry into the situation, warning that such actions threaten both security and societal peace, especially given the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Al-Arouri called for accountability for those responsible, stressing that the truth is essential for the community and that these incidents should not be exploited to deepen divisions within Palestinian society. He also expressed concern over the Palestinian Authority’s pursuit of resistance fighters, describing it as a dangerous act amidst the broader context of Israeli aggression and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank.

In response, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned the killing of Rabhi Shalabi by the PA's security forces, calling it a heinous crime that reflects the moral decay of these forces. Hamas stated that the crime crossed all red lines and called for intervention to halt these violations against Palestinian society. The movement urged Palestinian factions and the people to organize mass protests to end the actions of the PA’s security forces, which they argue serve the goals of the Israeli occupation.
