Dr. Marwan Hams, field director of Gaza's Ministry of Health, has warned that northern Gaza is now entirely devoid of medical services as Israel continues its relentless attacks on the Kamal Adwan Hospital. "The situation here is more than dire, as Israeli forces have been targeting the hospital and its surroundings, killing anyone who attempts to move and destroying vital infrastructure, including oxygen stations, operating rooms, intensive care units, water tanks, and electricity generators," he stated.
Dr. Hams added that injured civilians cannot reach Kamal Adwan Hospital due to constant Israeli shelling and drone strikes. Despite coordination efforts between the World Health Organization (WHO) and Israeli occupation forces to allow ambulances to evacuate the wounded, these efforts have proven futile, as ambulances have come under attack when they attempt entry.
He urged international humanitarian organisations to pressure Israel into allowing essential medical supplies and food into the hospital. "There are no treatments or food left inside the facility, and Israeli forces have deliberately targeted the families of medical staff," he added.
Furthermore, Dr. Hams reported that other major medical facilities such as Al-Awda and Indonesian hospitals are no longer operational due to continuous Israeli bombardment. This has left northern Gaza without the vital health services needed to address the worsening humanitarian crisis.
Dr. Hams highlighted that these actions are part of a deliberate strategy by Israel to displace northern Gaza’s population while systematically dismantling its health system. "The Israeli occupation has massacred the people of northern Gaza as part of its broader plan," he said, emphasising the devastating impact of these attacks on medical infrastructure and civilian lives.
