Former Tunisian President Dr Mohamed Moncef Marzouki has stated that the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip exposes the true stance of regimes that previously hid behind hollow slogans. Now, they are desperate to gain Western approval by all possible means.
Marzouki emphasised that Gaza today is in dire need of moral, media, political, and material support. He explained that Israel believes it has achieved security dominance, no longer perceiving a threat from Iran or Hezbollah, and thus continues its genocide in Gaza with impunity.
"We cannot stand idly by as the crime of the century unfolds before our eyes," Marzouki stressed. "The unrelenting Israeli crimes against Gaza prove that many Arab regimes are deliberately ignoring the destruction, bloodshed, and atrocities being committed. This aligns perfectly with Israel's ultimate goal of eradicating the Palestinian people and burying their cause."
Marzouki added that those complicit in these crimes will one day face accountability. "The Arab and Islamic peoples are filled with rage at what is happening. This anger cannot be suppressed forever."
According to Marzouki, fear of popular uprisings has been a major driver for Arab regimes to normalise relations with Israel. These regimes believe such ties will protect them and secure the support of Western powers, particularly during the Trump era, which emboldened Zionist aggression.
"However," he argued, "it is the responsibility of the people to move and express their moral and political solidarity with their pivotal cause. History will judge these events. Yet, no one can predict when the volcano of popular uprisings will erupt – the movement of peoples, like volcanoes, follows no predictable pattern."
