Polish Media: Netanyahu to Skip Auschwitz Anniversary over Arrest Fears

Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz liberation due to an International Court of Justice (ICJ) arrest warrant for alleged war crimes in Gaza.

Polish Deputy FM Władysław Bartoszewski reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to ICJ rulings, making Netanyahu’s visit legally risky. The January 27 event will host global leaders, including King Charles III, but Russia remains uninvited.

The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and ex-Defense Minister Yoav Galant on November 21, citing war crimes, genocide, and targeting civilians in Gaza. Gaza’s health ministry reports over 45,000 deaths since October 7, 2023.
