The people of Gaza have endured unimaginable suffering, facing death in all its cruel manifestations. With the arrival of winter, the harsh cold has already claimed seven lives, including six infants, two of them newborn twins.
The Government Media Office has reported that the death toll among the displaced is expected to rise, given the dire conditions they face. Since last night, a severe low-pressure system has swept through Gaza, bringing torrential rain and flooding to the makeshift tents sheltering thousands of displaced families.
The Gaza Municipality described the situation as catastrophic, citing the lack of resources to provide adequate relief to those struggling against the storms and freezing temperatures.
Amidst this humanitarian crisis, Israeli attacks continue unabated. Late this morning, Israeli Apache helicopters launched strikes west of Jabaliya in northern Gaza, killing one resident and destroying a home in the Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood southeast of Gaza City.
On this 451st day of unrelenting Israeli bombardment, the suffering in Gaza continues to escalate. A resident was killed southeast of Gaza City, another person was injured near the Kerem Abu Salem crossing, and a third was wounded by an Israeli sniper east of Nuseirat.
As Gaza faces the combined onslaught of aggression and a merciless winter, its people remain steadfast, their resilience a testament to their enduring spirit amidst unimaginable hardship.
