Irish Foreign Ministry Urges Immediate Halt to Israeli Genocide in Gaza

The Irish Foreign Minister, Michael Martin, has called for an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza, which has entered its 450th consecutive day. Speaking on Sunday, Martin stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire and an increase in humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population.

"We need a ceasefire in Gaza, and we need to increase humanitarian aid to civilians," Martin said in a press statement. He highlighted the alarming reports that the Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last major medical facility in northern Gaza, is no longer operational. The hospital was reportedly burned by Israeli soldiers after they arrested medical staff, wounded patients, and civilians seeking shelter.

The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues to escalate. The death toll from the Israeli military's operations has now reached 45,514 people, with 108,189 injured since October 7, 2023. The displaced population endures harsh winter conditions in makeshift tents, compounding their misery.

Martin reiterated the Irish government’s stance on the urgent need to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza and called on the international community to take immediate action to end the suffering and protect the rights of civilians.
