PJPC: Israel Begins the Year with a Journalist Killed Every 24 Hours in Gaza

The Palestinian Journalists Protection Center (PJPC) strongly condemns the killing of young photojournalist Arej Shahin in an Israeli bombardment targeting the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

This tragic incident follows the deaths of photojournalist Omar Al-Diraoui, killed when his home in Al-Zawaida was bombed, and journalist Hassan Al-Qishawi, who lost his life on Thursday during an Israeli attack on his home in Gaza City.

The international community's failure to protect journalists severely undermines its credibility and weakens global efforts to uphold human rights and international principles.

These targeted killings occur amid a troubling international silence and unyielding American support for the Israeli government, emboldening further crimes against Palestinian civilians, including members of the press.

PJPC urgently calls on the global community to intervene immediately to halt these grave violations and ensure justice for the victims. We demand the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigate these atrocities and hold their perpetrators accountable.
