A Syrian-American doctor has revealed the catastrophic reality of Gaza under Israel’s ongoing war. After weeks of providing aid at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, Dr. Razan described conditions far worse than images or videos convey.
The hospital, designed to serve 250,000 people, is now struggling to care for over 1.2 million displaced individuals. Dr. Razan highlighted critical shortages of medicines and supplies, with patients enduring life-threatening delays, particularly those with chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart disease.
She confirmed that Israeli airstrikes had killed several hospital staff and accused Israel of deliberately targeting healthcare facilities, the last refuge for many. She also criticised the United States for enabling what she described as genocide, stating that similar atrocities elsewhere would provoke a far stronger global response.
The UNRWA recently declared Gaza’s hospitals “death traps” due to relentless bombing. Three major hospitals in northern Gaza have been forced to shut down entirely, while Israel continues to justify attacks on medical facilities with unsubstantiated claims about their use by resistance groups.
For the 460th day, Israel’s assault on Gaza persists, marked by mass civilian casualties and what many describe as systematic war crimes.
