“Minister of Genocide… We Will Not Forgive You”: Journalists Interrupt Blinken’s Press Conference
Journalists interrupted a press conference held by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday, accusing him of being a criminal and complicit in the genocide in Gaza. In a video that circulated online, Blinken was heard discussing his satisfaction about the imminent return of prisoners from Gaza to their families as part of a ceasefire agreement. However, voices in the conference room grew louder, and one journalist was heard being escorted out of the room.
The journalist said, “I sat respectfully, but now I am being attacked… If you talk about press freedom,
I’m asking questions but you’re not letting me speak.” The journalist then directly accused Blinken: “You stay silent about genocide and the erasure of people. You’re a criminal. Why don’t you appear before the International Court of Justice in The Hague?”
This incident follows a previous protest in Washington, where a group of Palestine supporters interrupted Blinken’s speech, chanting “Minister of Genocide” and “We will not forgive you.”
Just days after the “Al-Aqsa Flood” attack carried out by Palestinian resistance groups, Blinken visited Israel for the first time, stating that he came not only as the U.S. Secretary of State but as a Jew whose grandfather escaped death. Since then, Blinken has made several trips to the region, consistently aligning with Israeli narratives and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stance, while largely ignoring the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and placing responsibility on the Palestinians for the ongoing violence.
On Wednesday, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, announced that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Palestinian factions and Israel after 15 months of warfare, during which Israel committed acts of genocide and thousands of massacres, met with fierce resistance from the Palestinian people.
